Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
Social and emotional learning (SEL) can help students learn the competencies and skills they need to build resilience and effectively manage their emotions, behaviour and relationships with others.
Social and emotional learning involves students having opportunities to learn and practice social skills such as:
cooperation
managing conflict
making friends
coping
being resilient
recognising and managing their own feelings.
Our school uses resources such as the Victorian Curriculum Personal and Social Capabilities achievement standards, the Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships learning materials, the Play is the Way methodology, the Zones of Regulation framework and the Promote mental health: social and emotional learning.
Each class timetables approximately 1 hour of SEL each week.
